Outreach Programme
During the school holiday, the Form 4 and Form 5 students, together with our teacher, went on an outreach programme to support a family living with muscular dystrophy, a condition that affects muscle strength and mobility.
We spent the day helping to clean and organise their bedrooms and living room, making their home a more comfortable place for them. Besides helping with the chores, we also had the opportunity to spend time with the eldest sibling, Abigail. We listened to her share about her faith journey, her experiences, and the challenges she has faced in life.
It was a meaningful experience that reminded us of the importance of kindness, compassion, and taking the time to understand the stories of others. Even simple acts of service and a listening ear can make a big difference in someone’s life.
Saints Peter and Paul: BEC and Youth
At the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, faith comes alive through Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) and youth gatherings. In small home settings, people come together to pray, share, and support one another, turning the Church into a close-knit family.
The youth bring energy and life, growing in faith through discussions, friendships, and shared experiences. From meaningful conversations to joyful activities, these moments build strong bonds and a deep sense of belonging.
The St John BEC youth session was a vibrant gathering that combined faith, friendship, and fun in a meaningful way. It began with a short reflection, setting a peaceful tone before the energy picked up with interactive games that brought everyone closer together through laughter and teamwork. As the evening went on, the atmosphere transformed into a lively celebration with a DJ and disco session, where music, lights, and dancing filled the space with joy. The session beautifully showed that faith can be both deep and joyful, leaving the youth with stronger bonds, happy memories, and a renewed sense of community.
Together, BEC and youth create a community where faith is lived, shared, and celebrated.
CONFIRMATION CAMP FOR FORM 4 & 5 STUDENTS – 17th June 2026
Every year, church organize a Confirmation Camp for Form 4 and Form 5 students. This camp is very important because it helps students to confirm their goals, strengthen their spirit, and prepare themselves mentally and physically for the SPM examination.
During the camp, students took part in many activities. Firstly, there were motivational talks given by teachers and invited speakers. The speakers reminded us about the importance of discipline, time management, and having a clear target in SPM. Secondly, we had group discussions and workshops. In these sessions, we learned effective study techniques and how to make a study timetable. Thirdly, there were team-building activities such as gotong-royong, night walk, and group games. These activities helped to build teamwork and unity among students. Lastly, we made an “Ikrar SPM” together. We promised to study hard and make our parents and teachers proud.
This camp gave a big impact on all of us. Firstly, it increased our motivation to study harder. Secondly, it taught us the value of cooperation and leadership. Thirdly, it helped us to set realistic goals and to be more confident facing SPM. The camp also strengthened the relationship between students and teachers. In conclusion, the Confirmation Camp for Form 4 and Form 5 was a meaningful experience. It reminded us that success in SPM needs hard work, discipline, and support from each other. I believe all of us will remember this camp as a turning point in our journey to SPM.
Catechism Class
Form 4 Catechism Class: Growing in Faith, Serving with Love
The Form 4 Catechism Class at St. Peter & Paul Church, Banting is more than just a weekly class—it is a journey of faith that helps young Catholics grow spiritually, deepen their relationship with God, and prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Throughout the year, the students are encouraged to understand the teachings of the Catholic Church, strengthen their prayer life, and discover how they can live as faithful disciples of Christ in their daily lives.
Catechism classes provide a welcoming and supportive environment where students are free to ask questions, share their thoughts, and learn from one another. Guided by dedicated catechists, they study Sacred Scripture, the teachings of the Church, the importance of the Sacraments, and the role of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Every lesson reminds them that faith is not only about gaining knowledge but also about building a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and putting His teachings into practice through love, kindness, and service.
One of the most memorable moments of the year was the Confirmation Camp, held on Sunday, 7 June 2026. The camp was specially organised to help the Confirmation candidates prepare spiritually for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was a day filled with learning, prayer, fellowship, and personal reflection, allowing the students to encounter God in a deeper and more meaningful way.
The day began with a joyful Praise & Worship session, where everyone gathered to sing, pray, and open their hearts to the presence of the Holy Spirit. Through music and prayer, the students experienced the joy of worshipping God together as one community. This session reminded them that praising God is not only an act of worship but also a way of expressing gratitude for His endless love and mercy.
Another meaningful session focused on Care for Creation, encouraging the students to recognise that the Earth is God’s precious gift to humanity. They reflected on their responsibility to care for the environment by protecting nature, reducing waste, and respecting all of God’s creation. This session reminded them that caring for creation is also an expression of love for God and respect for the world He has entrusted to us.
The students also participated in Ice-breaking and Team-building Activities, which helped everyone get to know one another better. Through games, discussions, and group challenges, they learned the importance of communication, cooperation, trust, and friendship. These activities created a joyful atmosphere and strengthened the sense of unity among the Confirmation candidates.
One of the most inspiring sessions of the camp was the Discovery Session about God’s Love. During this session, the students reflected on God’s unconditional love, forgiveness, and constant presence in their lives. They were reminded that no matter what challenges or mistakes they face, God never stops loving them. His love gives them hope, courage, and strength to continue walking faithfully with Him.
A special part of the Confirmation Camp required every Form 4 student to reflect personally on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Each student identified the gifts and fruits that they believed were strongest in their own lives and considered how these gifts could help them serve others. They also reflected on different parish ministries and made personal commitments regarding how they wished to continue serving the Church after receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. This activity encouraged them to recognise that Confirmation is not the end of their faith journey but the beginning of a lifelong mission to serve God and His people.
The journey of faith continued on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, when the Form 4 and Form 5 Confirmation students participated in several meaningful acts of service. During the parish pilgrimage, they volunteered to stand along the roadside, holding umbrellas to provide shade for the pilgrims as they made their way through the procession. Although this seemed like a small gesture, it reflected the Christian values of hospitality, generosity, and selfless service. By placing the comfort of others before themselves, the students demonstrated that even simple acts of kindness can become powerful expressions of God’s love.
Later that day, the students visited the home of a family caring for a person living with muscular dystrophy in Sungai Manggis. Upon arriving, they worked together to clean the house and create a more comfortable living environment for the family. While helping with household chores, the students also spent time talking with the patient and listening to the experiences, struggles, and hopes shared by the family.
For many of the students, this visit became one of the most unforgettable experiences of their Confirmation journey. Listening to the patient’s story helped them understand that many people silently carry heavy burdens every day. Despite the challenges caused by illness, the family continued to show remarkable strength, patience, and faith in God. The students learned that offering their time, listening with compassion, and simply being present could bring comfort and hope to someone in need.
This community service experience reminded everyone that being a follower of Christ is not measured only by attending Mass or studying the Bible. True discipleship is demonstrated through acts of mercy, compassion, humility, and service. As Jesus Himself taught, we are called to love our neighbours, especially those who are suffering, forgotten, or in need of encouragement.
Throughout the year, the Form 4 Catechism Class has become a place where students grow not only in knowledge but also in faith, character, and friendship. Through prayer, worship, reflection, service, and fellowship, they have learned to recognise God’s presence in both joyful and difficult moments. Every activity has helped them become more confident in living out their Catholic faith at home, in school, within the parish, and in the wider community.
As Scripture reminds us:
“Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
— Romans 15:7
This verse beautifully reflects the mission of the Form 4 Catechism Class. Every student is welcomed with love, accepted as part of God’s family, and encouraged to become a welcoming presence for others. Just as Christ welcomes us without conditions, we are called to open our hearts to everyone and build a Church where all people feel loved, respected, and valued.
As the students continue preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation, they are reminded that receiving the Holy Spirit is not simply a one-day celebration but the beginning of a lifelong commitment to live as faithful disciples of Christ. Empowered by the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, they are called to share God’s love, serve with humility, spread hope, and become living witnesses of the Gospel wherever they go.
